Portable Rapid Response Testing Systems

Overview:

What do I do when I am notified of an alarm? How can I get data from other portions of my system without on-line monitoring? What kind of equipment can I put into the hands of the emergency response teams?

Hach offers a portable testing solution that can be used to verify instruments if the GuardianBlueR Event Detection System sends an alarm notification-

GuardianBlue Verification Kit

  • Contains several parameters for emergency response purposes
  • Kit is expandable & versatile with DR/890 Colorimeter, Digital Titrator, and HQ40D Multi Portable Meter
  • Set includes: DR/890 Colorimeter, 2100P Turbidimeter, Inspector Alert Radiation Monitor, and HQ40D Multi Portable Meter

The GuardianBlue Verification Kit measures the following parameters:

  • Free Chlorine
  • Total Chlorine
  • Hardness (Total and Calcium)
  • Alkalinity
  • Cyanide
  • Toxicity
  • Conductivity
  • pH
  • Arsenic
  • Radiation – alpha, beta, gamma, and x-radiation

  • Now available worldwide

The kit contains seven standard tests recommended to be performed on each sample:

Screening tests:

  • Eclox Chemiluminescence Toxicity Test
  • Pesticide/Nerve Agent test strips
  • Optional Mustard Gas Test available

Quantitative tests:

  • Hach EZ Arsenic Test Kit
  • Hach Model CN66 Chlorine Test Kit, Color Disc
  • Hach Model CO-1 Color Test Kit, Color Disc
  • Hach Pocket Pal Tester for Dissolved Solids
  • Hach Pocket Pal Tester for pH

The rapid response Eclox Water Test Kit is one of Hach’s most reliable portable test kits for water testing. It provides a broad indication of water quality and is an important component of a more comprehensive water quality monitoring system.

The Eclox Test Kit was initially designed for military applications and its durable functionality makes it ideal for a variety of field testing such as rapid on-site contamination detection (vandalism, tampering, automobile accident, cargo spills and so on), environmental monitoring (mapping), natural disaster response (after floods, hurricanes or other events), pollution incident tracking and more.

This test kit is ideal for water quality managers and emergency first responders who require rapid, reliable on-site testing for possible contamination.

The kit contains seven standard tests including:

  • Arsenic
  • Pesticide/nerve agent
  • Chlorine, free and total
  • Color, APHA
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
  • pH
  • Chemiluminescence toxicity screening

ECLOX has been validated by the EPA’s Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program to yield reliable detection of heavy metals, poisons and chemical warfare agents on-site.

This product was purchased by Hach Homeland Security Technologies in late 2008. Hach Company is the sole owner / distributor of ECLOX technology in the world.

ToxTrak Toxicity Test Kit, 25 tests

Detailed Description

Colorimetric Method

Toxicity-the inhibitory effects of a waste stream on bacterial growth-can be monitored using methods such as direct growth, specific enzyme activity, bioluminescence, and respiration. These methods usually require lengthy incubation times, centrifugation, solvent extraction, laborious colony counting procedures, and expensive equipment. The ToxTrak(TM) Toxicity Test uses a colorimetric method to determine toxicity with a spectrophotometer or color disc comparator. The colorimetric method is quick and inexpensive, making it practical to monitor more frequently and with larger numbers of samples.

Use either treatment plant biomass or freeze-dried bacteria (order separately) to monitor percent inhibition. Using your plant’s biomass, the ToxTrak Toxicity Test closely approximates the actual inhibitory effects of toxicity in your process. Using freeze-dried bacteria, you can screen for toxicity at any point in the waste stream.

Economical Alternative to Bioassays

The ToxTrak Toxicity Test is an inexpensive way to screen for potentially toxic influents and effluents. It may also be used to identify proper dilution strengths before performing long-term bioassays, which can require two to seven days to complete and are costly to perform.

ToxTrak is an inexpensive alternative that has results comparable to respirometric methods measuring dissolved oxygen consumption. You can use ToxTrak to screen influent and effluent and/or process waters from wastewater treatment plants, pulp and paper facilities, power plants, chemical production facilities, petroleum manufacturing, and metal plating facilities.
